The Agricultural and Fisheries Logistics Office will take center stage at #Agrilink2025 — showcasing how smarter warehousing fuels a stronger future for the country’s agricultural logistics! 🚚

The Agricultural and Fisheries Logistics Office (AFLO) is the lead agency of the Department of Agriculture – Philippines for modernizing and transforming how Philippine agriculture stores, moves, and markets perishable goods. From postharvest hubs to digital tracking systems, AFLO helps ensure that food stays fresh and farmers get fair value. AFLO’s six-point agenda in its programs include the modernization of agricultural ports, cold storage and ice plants, advanced warehousing, monorail transport systems, tram-based logistics, and integrated food hubs. 🏗️

An example of AFLO’s initiatives in warehousing is its recent completion of upgrades on six National Food Authority warehouses in Isabela. Per the DA’s report last June 2025, this expands the capacity to store a total of 308,500 sacks of rice (148,000 in Burgos, Roxas, Tumauini; 160,620 in Bagabag, Bayombong; 28,880 in Alfonso Lista and Lagawe). Enhancements include new roofing, reinforced walls, improved ventilation, strengthened flooring, and advanced pest control — bringing resilience and reducing losses during harvest surges or calamities. These warehouse upgrades will support a 34‑day buffer stock, making supply more reliable and accessible during weather disruptions. 🏬🌾

Strong, secure warehouses are critical assets for regional food security. By expanding capacity and reinforcing storage safety, AFLO helps in ensuring that rice and other staples are preserved longer, remain accessible to markets, and less vulnerable to shocks, while enabling farmers to get fairer prices. These warehousing projects embody #Agrilink‘s theme this year, “Logistics: The Key to an Efficient Market and Value Chain.” AFLO is not just storing food, but also fortifying the supply chain, empowering communities, and delivering stability from farm to table.
