Attend #Agrilink2025 for a seminar by the UPLB Postharvest Horticulture Training and Research Center (PHTRC) on small-volume cold chain system for first/last-mile distribution of high-value crops. 🥦🍅

The seminar will be held on October 2, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Amorsolo Room during the #Agrilink event. Learn more here: https://www.facebook.com/events/794911299725337/.

Getting fresh, high-value crops like vegetables and fruits from farms to markets is challenging. Produce can easily lose quality when transported without proper cooling, especially in the “first mile” (from farm to consolidation point) and the “last mile” (from distribution hub to consumer).

This session, led by Dr. Kevin F. Yaptenco, Professor at the University of the Philippines Los Baños – CEAT, will discuss how a small-volume cold chain system can help keep crops fresh and safe during these critical points in the supply chain. It’s a practical solution for farmers, traders, and small distributors who need affordable ways to maintain quality while moving smaller loads. By using the right storage temperature and packaging methods, this system helps:

✅ Reduce losses and spoilage

✅ Extend shelf life

✅ Maintain freshness and quality for consumers

✅ Improve earnings for farmers and sellers

Aligned with #Agrilink 2025’s theme, “Logistics: The Key to an Efficient Market and Value Chain,” this seminar highlights how smart cold chain strategies can make distribution more efficient, reduce waste, and deliver better products from farm to market. 🌾
