Growing food is only part of the challenge. Reaching the market is just as important. 🌾🛒

This is one of the key ideas behind #Agrilink2026’s theme, “Agri Food Hub Facilities: A Boost to Efficiency in the Value and Market Chains.”

Production, postharvest handling, processing, storage, and logistics all play important roles in moving agricultural and fishery products through the value chain. But these investments create the greatest impact when they help producers reach buyers more efficiently and consumers gain better access to food.

Agri food hubs support this by strengthening the links between production areas, consolidation, trading, logistics, and distribution. By bringing these functions closer together, they can help agricultural products move through the chain more efficiently while improving market access for farmers, fisherfolk, cooperatives, and agribusinesses.

Programs such as Kadiwa ng Pangulo, led by the Department of Agriculture – Philippines and DA Agribusiness, Marketing and Consumer Affairs, demonstrate why market linkage is an essential part of the value chain. According to DA reports as of mid-2025, around 7 million households and 2,484 farmers’ cooperatives and associations had benefited from the program, resulting in more direct farm-to-consumer connections, reduced layers of intermediaries, and improved income opportunities for organized farmer groups while helping consumers access more affordable food.

An efficient value chain is measured not only by how products move after harvest, but also by how effectively they reach the people they are meant to serve. Strengthening market access helps ensure that the investments made across production, processing, logistics, and distribution translate into greater value for producers and more reliable food access for communities.

At #Agrilink2026, the international agribusiness exhibit will highlight the technologies, services, organizations, and partnerships that help strengthen every stage of the value and market chains—from production to consumers.

Join us from October 8 to 10 at the World Trade Center, Pasay City for free seminars and free entrance to the exhibition.
